As Apple continues to develop the latest and greatest iPhone line, the creators of Blackberry are left sitting in the dust trying to play catch up. Why is it that the Blackberry, once a popular and efficient phone, is losing its touch on the market? The answer is quite simple, its marketing techniques and product quality have gone done the drain.
Many have argued that the Blackberry is now becoming a thing of the past. Once ruling the U.S. smartphone market, Blackberry is now behind the iPhone and Android line as they dominate the market with an 82% share. Why? Quite frankly, when was the last time you saw a commercial advertising a Blackberry?
There has been a complete lack of marketing for the phone line, and on top of that, the majority of aps being created are designed exclusively for the iPhone and Android line. While iPhones can play Netflix and the ever popular Angry Birds, Blackberries can play BrickBreaker and watch videos on Youtube. As the iPhone and Android continue to develop and advance in terms of speed, the creators of Blackberry are finally advertising that they are coming out with the “Blackberry 4G TRITON” — which many would argue is a little late in the game.
Even while Apple didn’t release a new phone for quite some time, every day you either heard or saw on TV how amazing the iPhone was. Can’t say the same for Blackberry’s, and by not marketing anything about the phone for a good year is dangerous when competing against the iPhone and Android line. Even though many iPhone users were once “crackberry” fanatics, many have gone to the other side.
Can the Blackberry resurface and once again make a claim to fame that they are the best smartphone line? More than likely, no, but with some hard work and creativity, there is a chance that they can overcome this hurdle they are facing by being known as one of the most unreliable smartphones on the market.
